Reliability is a must for any cable used in critical applications. But customers should also look for a long-lasting solution — one built for longevity. Bergen Cable Technology has these two necessities covered with its Bertrol line of push-pull assemblies, a popular choice for a wide range of demanding applications.
Bergen Bertrol brand push-pull controls are ideal for many industries and applications. In the automotive industry, for example, they are used to help adjust automobile seats, open and close car windows, and to properly control speeds. In medical applications, they have been components in surgical and endoscopic devices, x-ray and MRI equipment, as well as wheelchairs and hospital beds. Bertrol cables are also commonly used in physical fitness equipment to, for example, adjust the incline on treadmills, and in aircraft for seat recline and ejection.
Two types of assemblies
There are two varieties of Bertrol assemblies, both designed for positive, precise transmission of mechanical motion. They are:
- Push-Pull, where motion is applied in one direction by compression, and in the opposite directions by tension; and
- Pull-Pull, where motion is applied by tension, and the control is returned to its original position by spring actuation.
The type required is dependent upon the application, but each assembly includes a conduit, conduit fitting, core and core fitting. Each of these four key components features multiple options, which is why Bergen Cable offers a detailed guide on its website to help customers specify the most appropriate assembly.
