Rosta is a renowned master of three types of rubber suspension technology, and one of these is oscillating-conveyor technology. The company’s Canadian division, Rosta Inc., manufactures numerous elements in this area – including two elements that are built to support gyratory screening machines: universal joints and oscillating mountings.
Gyratory sifters are screening machines used in flour and grain conditioning, pharmaceutical powder preparation, and the chipboard sector. These devices have a circular screening motion that provides a quick, complete covering of the entire screen surface to create high throughput.
Offering the right joint elements
For companies in these industries who design hanging or upright gyratory sifters, Rosta can offer the right universal and single joint elements, for loads of up to 40,000 Newtons and rotation of up to 380 min-1.
The two kinds of Rosta elements available for gyratory sifters are as follows:
- Type AK Universal Joints. These are maintenance-free elastic universal joints that can be moved in any direction. They are used as universal joint supports for suspending or mounting gyratory screens, screening tables, tumbling oscillators, sorters, and screening machines that are positively driven by eccentrics or freely oscillating with unbalanced drive. Types AK 15 to AK 50 have aluminum square sections, while types AK 27 to AK 100-4 have housing made of SC iron. All other sizes of these joints have steel cores and are built of welded steel structures.
- Type AV Oscillating Mountings. Maintenance-free elastic joints made for guiding circular motions of hanging screens like gyratory sifters and screens in flour and paper mills or chemical processing plants. These mountings have larger rubber inserts than other Rosta elements have, which enables them to absorb hanging-sifter vibrations intensively and protect building structures and ceilings more effectively. Type AV 50 has an SC-cast-iron housing; all other sizes have cast-aluminum housing, and all types are made of aluminum profiles. Since Feb. 2014, Rosta has been manufacturing these mountings with an inner square made of light metal profile. All of the dimensions are kept, which means that elements are fully adaptable with the previous version.
