Durham Instruments can supply torque flanges from HBM, a leading manufacturer of measurement solutions. Its lineup includes HBM’s T40B and T40FM torque flanges, which are known for offering reliable test results at an attractive price.
The T40B torque flange offers secure digital data transfer between rotor and stator. This means constantly reliable test results, even under such adverse ambient conditions as electromagnetic interference, vibration and temperature variation. It features an easy-to-connect shunt, which enables users to check the T40B torque flange any time. This compact unit offers nominal (rated) torque from 50 Nm up to 10 kNm, nominal (rated) rotational speed from 10,000 to 20,000 rpm, and a measurement frequency range up to six kHz.
The T40FM digital torque flange is designed to offer digital transfer, high interference immunity and maximum accuracy at an attractive price. Ideal for torque measurement in large engine, gear and rolling road test benches, this unit measures highly dynamic processes between 15 and 80 kNm up to a bandwidth of six kHz, and can withstand a peak load of up to 660 per cent. In addition, it features a compact, lightweight design, extremely high torsional stiffness and the reduced mass moment of inertia, resulting in a significantly better natural torsional frequency of the torque flange. This creates the condition for further expansion of resonance frequency up to higher values during dynamic measurements in test bench applications, and allows the reserves up to the resonance frequency to be increased for numerous operating conditions. The unit’s design also features strain gauges located within its measuring body, giving excellent protection against environmental influences like dirt and moisture.
These units are available in Canada through Durham Instruments. The Pickering, Ont.-based company is the ideal source for measurement solutions, backed by more than 30 years of experience and a team of instrument specialists with the expertise to assess each customer’s needs and find the most appropriate solution.
