The entrance and exit points of an enclosure pose a threat to the wires within the enclosure. This is because external forces pulling on the cable from outside of the enclosure can jeopardize the electrical connection. Cable glands from Essentra Components, available in Canada through Gould Fasteners, are designed to eliminate the potential for wire damage in enclosures. They attach and grip a cable to the enclosure, absorbing any shock and vibration from environmental forces and, as a result, provide protection to the electrical connection within the enclosure.
Essentra Components’ portfolio includes straight and right angle NPT cable glands for fibre, wire and cable management. All models are constructed from nylon 6/6, and have the ability to operate in temperatures from -40 to 105 degrees C (-40 to 221 degrees F). They feature IP68-rated protection, and are available in a range of thread sizes. Each unit also provides a water- and dust-tight performance, as well as strain relief.
The straight cable glands are available in black and grey, while the right angle glands are only available in black. EPDM gasket and locknuts are sold separately.
