The new Hougen HMD130 ultra low-profile magnetic drill is available from Dobco Equipment. This right-angle drill is lightweight, yet can handle a large capacity, making it the ideal option for applications that require a powerful drilling solution in a small package.
The HMD130 features a powerful eight-amp 115-volt motor that can cut through one-inch depth holes up to 1-⅜ inches in diameter. In addition, it offers high torque gearing for long lasting power. The unit’s patented quill feed arbor enables smooth cuts with minimal vibration, while its RotaLoc Plus annular cutters offer a bayonet-style twist lock shank for fast cutter changes without the need for tools.
The unit is available with a 25-millimetre (one-inch) base plate, which has a dead lift rating of 982 kilograms (2,165 pounds) and a 333-kilogram (735-pound) drillpoint breakaway limit. A 9.5-millimetre (⅜-inch) plate is also available with a 544-kilogram (1,200-pound) dead lift rating and a 227-kilogram (500-pound) breakaway limit.
The drill is lightweight, at only 10.8 kilograms (23.8 pounds), and offers positive slug ejection, a pilot light for clear visibility, and a lift detector safety system. Its feed handle switches easily from side to side, though a ratchet can be used in place of the feed handle if it better suits the application. Additional features include rear-mounted controls, a mounted carrying handle, as well as a separate carrying case.
The HMD130 is made in the United States by Hougen, the inventor of the portable magnetic drill press. It is available in Canada from Dobco Equipment, a leading supplier of pneumatic tools and equipment.
