Firing Industries continues to be an important Canadian supplier of complex industrial process equipment – including material-handling products by piab, a major manufacturer of vacuum conveyors for the food-processing, chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors. Now, piab is offering new options for conveyor control with its new electrical control units, designed to expand the scope of its piFLOW® vacuum conveyors.
piab has just introduced its ECU-10 electrical control units, which make the addition of extra control functions in conveying systems simpler. This gives companies the option of using microcomputer-based electrical controls with piFLOW® conveyors.
Increasing the number of functions
piab produces several types of piFLOW® conveyors with the highest degree of hygiene and safety standards, as well as related spare parts, accessories, and upgrade kits. Built of high-quality material, these conveyors are essential devices for conveying dry powder products through dedicated pipe systems.
Available from Firing Industries, ECU-10 electrical control units not only support basic conveying functions, but also enable pipe emptying and the use of additional level detectors at feed and discharge points. Since electrical controls are easier than pneumatic controls to implement, this control unit lets users expand the number of functions they can control in the system. Manufacturers can introduce more advanced filter maintenance to allow for multiple filter-cleaning cycles and keep filters clean and unrestricted, for example. The ECU-10 also enables conveyance of fragile material at slower speeds, while integrating electrical piGENTLE® functionality in the valve unit that works with the electrical control unit. Users can also connect this control unit to an overarching, programmable logic controller system to control the whole manufacturing in customer facilities.
Other notable features of this software-controlled unit:
- Re-settable counters;
- A suction and discharge time of up to one minute;
- User-friendly touchscreen that enables easy settings for emptying, suction, and fluidization; and
- Software-supported fluidization.
The ECU-10 can increase the configurability of all piFLOW® conveyors, which can already be tailor-made for maximum productivity in specific applications. Its full menu allows selection from several different languages as well.
