A leading manufacturer of expansion joints for industrial facilities, HOLZ Rubber Company makes its products available in Canada via Northern Industrial Supply Co. (NISCO). Alongside HOLZ’s piping, flue-duct, and high-temperature joints, the manufacturer also produces metallic expansion joints, which are designed for a wide variety of work applications and can handle unique installation and environmental conditions.
Built for large temperature ranges
HOLZ metallic expansion joints are built to handle challenging temperature and pressure challenges in complex piping and ducting systems. They are designed to work effectively in temperatures ranging from -250 to nearly 1,000 degrees Celsius; they can also withstand pressure as high as 1,000 pounds per square inch.
Metallic expansion joints are mainly recommended for such applications as: fossil-fuel power generation; pressure-vessel manufacturing; wastewater treatment; marine applications; desalination; oil-refinery applications; and tasks in the petrochemical, chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors.
HOLZ manufactures four types of metallic expansion joints, all distributed by NISCO:
- Single Bellow Joint – The most fundamental design of a metallic joint, with flanged or welded pipe ends. They are designed based on pressure, temperature, movements, space, corrosion and other environmental or installation conditions, and they compensate for movement within pipe sections in which they are installed. Single bellow joints are fully compliant with the EJMA standard.
- Universal Expansion Joint – These joints are built for unique environmental and installation conditions such as pressure, temperature, movements, space, or corrosion. Their design enables more lateral movement than that of the single bellow joint.
- External Pressurized Expansion Joint – Like the single bellow joint, this one is designed based in its unique environmental and installation conditions, but it enables more convolutions for large axial movements without losing bellows stability. Its external pressure chamber allows line pressure to act on the external bellow surfaces.
- Pressure Balanced (Elbow and Inline) Expansion Joint – This rectangular or square joint is designed to handle pressure thrust while it absorbs axial or lateral movements accomplished by adding equalizing bellows tied to the flow bellows in a way that cancels pressure-induced opposing forces. Low-pressure bellows designed for ducting and fan applications.
