Since it was founded nearly 30 years ago, the Drummondville, Que.-based metal parts manufacturer has invested more than $15 million in fixed assets, including robotic bending and welding cells. This state-of-the-art equipment enables it to produce complex parts with consistent quality.
Matritech’s capabilities include robotic welding, which it introduced to its plant floor in 2003. Today, the company has three multi-axle welding robots that, when combined with its pulsed arc welding technology, can produce complex welding assemblies with precision, while offering consistent repeatability and quality. These welding robots are ideal for use with high-volume production projects.
Matritech’s facility is also home to a robotic bending cell — the Trumpf TruBend Cell 7000 — which the company acquired in 2014. This machine has enabled Matritech to grow its production capacity by increasing the quality of parts manufactured. In addition, it allows clients to alternate between high-volume stamping runs and standard bending short-runs, giving them incredible flexibility. The cell features two gripping arms, which allow the robot to take pieces laid flat, analyze them, complete the bending operations and place them on an automated conveyor with incredible synchronization and without human intervention. The result is increased manufacturing speed, reduced setup times, and the capability to manufacture complex parts.
