With six decades of broaching experience under its belt, The Ohio Broach & Machine Company has mastered a wealth of machining techniques. This includes internal broaching, which is one of the most efficient methods of producing internal forms in the bores of mechanical components. Such forms can include keyways, squares, hexes, and splines.
Often referred to as “traditional broaching”, internal broaching is a cost-effective means of mass-producing irregular or custom internal forms. It can be done with a wide range of materials, such as brass, copper, alloy steel, stainless steel, or aluminum.
A versatile broach machine
Ohio Broach uses and sells horizontal internal broaching machines for internal broaching purposes. Machines with the HC model designation have close-grained, high-tensile, one-piece cast iron guide heads, while those with the HF designation use continuously welded, thermally stressed, relieved, fabricated steel guide heads. Each of these is designed and built to assure the stability and rigidity that precise tool tracking requires, while using hardened and ground alloy steel machine ways to guide their machine pull heads.
These pull heads are equipped with precision ground wear pads that can be easily replaced or adjusted for vertical tool alignment with the standard two-inch, eight-pitch female thread for broach puller attachment. A key advantage of these horizontal internal broaching machines is the quick return of the broach pull head to the starting position.
In addition to building machines, Ohio Broach also offers turnkey packages that include products and services such as workholding tooling and broach cutting tools. Clients have the option to trial-broach parts at the company’s ISO 9001-certified facility in Willoughby, OH and then repeat the trial broaching at their own plants. Once an internal broaching job is in production, tool sharpening is also available to maintain peak performance.
Ohio Broach has a complete range of machines for virtually every application, including special machines for exceptional broaching tasks. Clients across North America trust this company as the total source for internal broaching and more. From complex broaching tasks to machine sales and sharpening/repair services, Ohio Broach always has the solution.
