Exposure to wood dust, generated by the processing of wood, has many adverse health effects, from skin conditions to cancer. Proper safety precautions must be taken in environments where wood dust is present. Among the preventative measures suggested by the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety is installing and maintaining good ventilation. Dust collection equipment is part of the solution.
N.R. Murphy manufactures a complete line of dry dust collecting equipment, from very small units to huge collectors. Its lineup includes models suitable for applications in the wood industry, including its FB, HE and MK Series.
- FB Series: These dust collectors feature a cylindrical design and tube-style filters with mechanical cleaning. This system returns filtered air back to the plant. The self-contained units fit low ceiling areas and take up a minimal amount of floor space, while promising a highly efficient performance and low maintenance — it’s easy to empty the collected waste. In addition, the system offers easy installation and operation.
- HE Series: These dust collectors feature continuous duty automatic self cleaning and a heavy gauge galvanized all-welded construction that is weather proof. HE models are highly efficient, require minimal maintenance and are easy to install.
- MK Series: These dust collectors are ideal for small and large applications both inside and outside. The rugged, self-contained models feature a heavy gauge all-welded construction in a square or rectangular design, with tube style filters and mechanical cleaning. The units are flexible and compact, quiet and require minimal maintenance.
The FB, HE and MK Series are available in various sizes to suit a wide range of needs. All models are designed to protect a company’s most valuable asset — its people.
“In the future, people will remain our most important strength,” says Norm Murphy, the company’s president. “The equipment we design and build will become extremely necessary to the well-being of all people.”
