Denso’s sealing and moulding product line features self-supporting moulding compounds designed for use on irregular surfaces, such as flanges and couplings. Used in conjunction with the company’s petrolatum tape or wax tape systems, these products provide a smooth profile to minimally prepared surfaces. The lineup includes Densyl Mastic Blankets, which are ideal for applications that require a protective, waterproof and non-setting mastic.
Versatility and durability
Densyl Mastic is a cold-applied, self-supporting mastic that contains inert siliceous fillers and vegetable fibres, and no VOCs. This petrolatum compound is used for sealing, filling and caulking applications where a protective, waterproof and non-setting mastic is required. With excellent sealing properties, Densyl Mastic Blankets can be used to contour tank bases and profile irregular surfaces, and will adhere to metal, PVC, polyethylene and concrete. This product is not affected by water, acids and salt.
Densyl Mastic Blankets are easy to apply, with minimal surface preparation required. The user simply removes all loose scale, rust or other foreign matter in accordance to SSPC SP2 “Hand Tool Cleaning” or SP3 “Power Tool Cleaning”. A high-pressure water wash of 3,000-7,000 psi is also suitable. Once the surface is prepped, the user simply applies a thin film of appropriate primer to the surface and then, by hand, moulds the mastic to a rounded configuration to fill irregular shapes and reduce sharp edged surfaces.
Densyl Mastic is typically applied before tape application, and is usually used in conjunction with primer, Denso Petrolatum Tapes or Denso Bituminous Tapes. To learn more, contact Denso North America.
