As a leader in corrosion prevention and sealing technology, Denso North America has a large portfolio of products ideal for a wide range of environments and applications. One common application is corrosion prevention for valves, fittings and irregular-shaped connections

The need

Fittings, valves and other irregular-shaped connections play a vital role in pipeline and water industries; however, most of them are susceptible to external corrosion from the environment. But Denso North America can help.

The company offers many options for corrosion protection, including liquid epoxy coatings, petrolatum or Bitumen/Butyl tape systems, and more. These products are designed to keep fittings, valves and other irregular-shaped connections secured for decades to come.

The proof

There are many examples of Denso North America’s products offering long-lasting protection, whether it’s the company’s Denso Protal 7200 liquid coating protecting a ball valve from corrosion, or its Petrolatum Tape System protecting a water fitting from corrosion and impact damage before being installed underground.

For example, the city of Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario specified the Denso Petrolatum Tape System to make sure newly installed valves were well protected from corrosion. It used Denso Paste, Denso Profiling Mastic and Denso LT Tape on the valves before lowering them into the trench. This long-term approach to corrosion prevention will ensure that the city’s water distribution system stays protected for years to come.

In another example, Sun-Canadian Pipelines, a Suncor Energy and Shell Canada joint venture, undertook a large valve rehabilitation project that involved the sandblasting of epoxy coatings on each valve, and the application of the Denso Petrolatum System. Sun-Canadian had used a type of coal-tar epoxy coating to protect the valves in the past, but this required constant maintenance and repainting. It selected Denso Petrolatum Paste, Denso Profiling Mastic and Denso LT Petrolatum Tape so it could be free of continuous, expensive maintenance forever.
