The city of Sault Ste. Marie, located in northern Ontario, was replacing a number of sections of water main throughout its water distribution system. This work involved the installation of several large diameter valves along various sections of the main. The city's Waterworks Engineering Department wanted to make sure that these newly installed valves were well protected from corrosion, and turned to Denso North America for help.
As a leading provider of anti-corrosion and sealing products, Denso had the perfect solution — the Denso Petrolatum Tape System, which included Denso LT Tape, Denso Profiling Mastic and Denso Paste.
The new valves and accompanying pipe sections were first coated with Denso Paste, profiled with Denso Profiling Mastic and then wrapped with Denso LT Tape above grade. Then the assemblies were lowered down and connected in the trench. This long-term approach to corrosion prevention using the Denso Petrolatum System ensures that the city of Sault Ste. Marie’s water distribution system stays protected for many years to come.
There are many advantages to using the Denso Petrolatum Tape System. It provides long-term corrosion protection to above and below ground pipes, flanges, valves and related surfaces. It can be applied to cold, wet surfaces, and is designed for easy application in both arctic and tropical temperatures. Another bonus: the products are ready for immediate service after application.
