For 40 years, Alps Welding has been the fabricator of choice for many companies across North America for their custom process equipment. But over the last four decades, the Woodbridge, Ont.-based company has seen an increase in the demand for modular plant fabrication, and has gained a lot of experience in this arena.
One specific project involved 16 individual modules, each designed to fit on a single truck, to be erected and connected on site. Alps Welding has the capability to fabricate the structural steel modules, including the required platforms, ladders and railings, at its 60,000-square-foot fabrication facility, and can even manufacture the vessels and associated piping for the modules, including supports, insulation and the interconnecting piping from module to module. The company can also take care of assembly, installation and electrical wiring of any pumps, controls, sensors or instrumentation required for the operation of the module. Most importantly, because of the space available in its plant and its 70-ton lifting capacity, the company can trial fit all of the modules together, inside its building, to ensure they will fit together properly when installed in the field.
The company can share many success stories about large projects it has worked on. Alps Welding fabricates a variety of equipment, including pressure vessels, piping systems, stacks, heat exchangers, blower fan wheels, modular plants and skid-mounted equipment, among others.
