Among the innovative products that Wainbee Limited distributes in Canada is CrossControl’s line of CrossFire controllers. These instruments are used to run advanced control, diagnostic, and integrated fleet management applications, with potent computing kernels and operating system support that cut down time in maintenance and software development.
The latest addition to the CrossControl family at Wainbee is the CrossFire SX controller. This device uses the latest CPU technology and innovative safety architecture in applications involving industrial motor vehicles and equipment.
AMP connectors save money
A freely programmable 32-bit I/O controller, the CrossFire SX is a future proof platform designed to comply with today’s standards for functional safety and reliability. This versatile controller is intended for use in both on- and off-road vehicles and relevant equipment.
The CrossFire SX can receive 38 I/O channels, with Fieldbus network capabilities such as J1939 and CANopen. Available as an I/O device, a Smart I/O device with distributed logic, or a freely programmable controller compatible with CODESYS 3.5.X., the controller is fully configurable in software.
What makes the CrossFire SX unique is that it has been built specifically to withstand harsh environmental conditions, as it allows installation close to the loads and sensors that it will be using. In addition, its two AMP 35-pin connectors save installation costs by enabling inexpensive and reliable wire harnesses.
Measuring 23.2 by five by 17.1 centimetres and weighing only one kilogram, the CrossFire SX is available in three different standard models. All of them meet the high safety standards for farming, forestry, and construction applications, including use in tractors, earth-moving machinery and other equipment. Other features of the device include the following:
- Ability to handle temperatures ranging from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius;
- Glass fibre reinforced nylon housing, filled with silicone;
- Protection against load dump and reverse polarity;
- Twelve-bit resolution in all outputs to prevent short circuit and overload;
- 4A outputs designed to drive LED lamps and other capacitive loads, and 2A outputs for lighter capacitive loads; and
- Certification for vibration, shock, and EMC emissions, immunity, and transient.
