Organizations across the globe are looking forward to the launch of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Standard in September — the first major revision of the popular standard since 2000. ISO 9001 has benefitted millions of organizations worldwide since its inception, helping companies manage quality, save money, increase profit, win more business and satisfy more customers.
A final draft of the standard (FDIS) has already been released, incorporating changes made following feedback from users and experts around the world. It takes into account the globally competitive economy, complex supply chains and other factors that have impacted business practices since 2000. In addition, the revision is aligned with other key management system standards through the use of a common structure and core text.
BSI, a leading provider of business improvement solutions, is one of the many organizations counting down to the launch of ISO 9001:2015. BSI helps organizations manage risk, performance and sustainability activities by offering courses and training for a variety of standards, including ISO 9001. It offers ISO 9001 training courses and resources, with packages that can be customized to the customer’s business.
“ISO 9001 is the world’s most used management system standard, and as such, all eyes are on this revision. The impact it has had in shaping how organizations manage the issue of quality correctly is huge,” said Gary Robinson, commercial director for BSI Canada. “No organization can afford to let their standards slip, and the new ISO 9001 encompasses the changing needs of businesses.”
Customers who are certified to the 2008 version have three years from the date the new edition publishes to transition. BSI has developed materials, services and courses to help make the transition as smooth as possible for its customers.
