Zirconia – Alumina

We produce two types of zirconia materials. Our AmZirOx 86 is a zirconia yttria ceramic material. It is also known as Y-TZP. It is 95 per cent zirconia and 5 per cent yttria. Transformation toughening allows this material to absorb energy that would make most ceramics fail. It has a bulk density of 6.01g/cm3. Its flexural strength is 1000 MPa. It has a Vickers hardness of 1290. Its grains are 0.5 microns. It can be used in temperatures as high as 2400°C.
Our ZTA-96 zirconia toughened alumina combines the high strength and toughness of AmZirOx 86 with the wear resistance of our AmAIOx 68. ZTA-96 is 85 per cent alumina and 15 per cent zirconia. It is highly resistant to wear and corrosion, remains stable in high temperatures and has superior mechanical strength. It has a bulk density of 4.1g/cm3. Its flexural strength is 760 MPa. It has a Vickers hardness of 1750. It’s grains are 1.5 microns. It can be used in temperatures as high as 1650°C.
