Metal expansion joints
Expansion joints, sometimes referred to as compensators, allow for movement caused by thermal expansion and vibrations in pipelines, machines, and containers. They include one or more metal bellows with connectors at each end, and tie rods depending on the particular application. Expansion joints can be designed to handle different types of movement including axial, lateral, and angular.
Often, expansion joints are produced with bellows that feature a multi-ply design. The multiple layers of metal that form the bellow walls result in increased stability and flexibility. Just some of the additional benefits of multi-ply bellows include resistance to extreme pressures, absorption of large movements, compact size, structure-borne noise insulation, efficient use of corrosion resistant construction materials, and the ability to monitor leaks in critical media.
