Mod-Tronic Instruments can provide flexible silicone heaters. Our offering includes heaters that have either wire or etched foil elements with silicone rubber insulation. Flexible heaters can offer many advantages. They can be easily mounted to either flat or curved surfaces, and offer higher heat output when compared to metal-clad heaters. In addition, the flat shape provides exceptional heat transfer and uniformity, as well as long life. A wide variety of flexible heaters are available, since Minco offers over 1,800 stock and standard models. They include several options for insulation besides silicone, including Kapton, mica, and polyester. Custom designed models are also available to suit special requirements.
Flexible heaters with silicone insulation feature resistance to most chemicals including acids, bases, and solvents. They can also be supplied vulcanized to metal parts with no need for adhesive. Our silicon rubber heaters with foil elements feature the ability to heat to high temperatures, as they can reach 235 degrees C (455 degrees F). Alternatively, our wire-wound rubber heaters are more economical for large sizes, but are thicker and have lower watt densities. They can provide uniform heating up to 220 degrees C (428 degrees F).
These heaters also offer ruggedness, easy installation, and the ability to withstand repeated flexing. These heaters come standard with TÜV and UL component recognition marking. They also provide low leakage current thanks to capacitive coupling. This feature can be important for large heaters that are used in medical applications.
