Pop rivets can be used in both
blind and non-blind applications as a replacement for welds,
adhesives, screws, nuts, and bolts. As a blind rivet, they
can be inserted and set from one side of the object. A blind
rivet is composed of the rivet body and, within it, the setting
mandrel. During installation, the rivet body is inserted in
a hole in the materials to be joined. The insertion tool grips
the mandrel. The mandrel head is pulled into the rivet body,
expanding it, and forming a reliable joint. At a predetermined
setting force, the mandrel breaks and falls away and the rivet
is set.

RAF is a well-known manufacturer of electronic
hardware: custom, standard, and metric products. Thumb screws
with washer face, plain and push type come in aluminum, brass,
steel, and stainless in lengths from 1/2 to 2-1/8.
Diameters range from 3/16 to 1/2 and thread sizes
are available from 4-40 to 1/4-20. Their line of partial and
full knurled swage standoffs is available in aluminum, brass,
steel, and stainless. They come in front face knurl, back face,
and double face knurl configurations as well. Thread sizes range
from 2-56 to 10-32 in lengths from 1/8 to 2 and
in diameters from 3/16 to 3/8. RAF also produces
a line of hex jack screws which can be made of steel or any
other material. Optional nuts, flat washers, and lock washers
are available. 4-40 is the standard thread size with a body
length of 3/16. Length of the male threads range from
3/16 to 3/4. Round and Hex Spacers and Round, Hex
and Square Female Standoffs are part of RAFs extensive
product line.

Richco is a name that is synonymous
with circuit board hardware, including locking board supports
which install easily by hand, are releasable for repairs, and
are available in different board and chassis hole size combinations.
Also of note are the Richco vertical card guides and pullers.
The two-rib construction in the guide groove reduces vibration
and shifting and the double channel permits side-by-side mounting.
For wire routing applications, Richcos wire saddles are
top notch. They are easily installed, provide a secure hold
in any position while assuring precision routing. The wire saddles
lift the wires off the board to avoid hot components and minimize
transient interference.

Shakeproof manufactures shaft retainers that
are designed to grip securely on a metal or plastic shaft, rod
or stud. An external tooth version clasps the inner wall of
a recess or cylinder to function as a retaining collar or spacer.
It makes for an easy application as no groove or shaft preparation
is required. The prongs (teeth) on the retainer flex as they
are pushed onto a shaft or into a recess. This sets up a strut
that strongly resists back-off pressures. Although the force
required for installation is moderate, the removal force can
range from 10 to 20 times the application force. Shakeproofs
internal tooth retainers slip easily over unthreaded shafts,
rods, and studs. As the retainer is pushed on the shaft, the
internal teeth flex and engage the full circumference of the
shaft which sets up a strut action that strongly resists any
back-off pressure. The slightly longer pilot teeth, which are
on all but the smallest diameter retainers, are positioned to
guide and center the retainer as it is pushed onto the shaft.

A system can be defined as a combination of mechanical components. The system can contain a subrack or case with electronic components that may include a backplane or power supply unit, a cooling unit where appropriate, and a system management module. Shroff, can provide everything needed for your system from components that meet the latest standards to modified standard parts or engineered units to meet your specifications. Schroff can supply back planes, power supply sources, cases, cabinets, subracks, and card guides. Their clip-in card guides have a screw down locking feature. 3-part guides can be purchased for non-standard board depths. Reinforced plastic guides or aluminum screw down guides are available for heavy duty applications.
As a pioneer in electronics packaging solutions, Schroff has been well known for their competence in mechanics, electronics, climate control and system management. Schroff offers a complete line of cabinets for almost every application, from the compact Minirack which is ideal for broadcast or security markets to the seismic withstanding heavy duty Technorack cabinets, which are suitable for security, defense, and telecommunication uses. They can also quickly provide prototypes of front panels,
manufactured from both extruded and flat stock. The selected panel can then be supplied in a timely manner, from low to very high volumes.

MOLEX
 |
Molex is a world class manufacturer of quality
electronic, electrical, and fiber optic interconnection products,
switches, and terminal blocks. Brand new to their line is the
2.13 mm diameter MLX series Pin and Socket Power Connectors.
The MLX series is interchangeable, intermateable, and intermountable
with industry standard products. This means that the MLX series
will work with existing wire harnesses, connectors or PCB headers.
The MLX connectors are UL recognized and CSA certified. They
are available in a variety of popular configurations. The housings
come in red or white molded nylon, depending on the flame retardant
property of the material. The housings have been designed to
accept both male and female Molex terminals as well as industry
compatible terminals. Molex has added an extra feature for easier
installation. Along with the industry standard identification
rib for circuit 1, Molex provides circuit identification grooves
for circuits 2 and 3. The pin and socket terminals are available
in a variety of material and plating options. Both have been
designed to run in Molex application tooling and in other compatible
equipment.
