HARDING CANADA INC | FRASERS

Global leader in connectors and connectivity

Invented modular connectors

Han-Modular® connectors can be configured for any combination of power, signal, fiber optic, D-Sub, coax and pneumatic contacts in a single, hinged frame.
Still owned and managed by its founding family, the HARTING Technology Group has grown from a tiny workshop in September 1945 into a global innovator and manufacturer of electrical, electronic and optical connection, transmission and networking solutions. HARTING invented the modular connector in the 1950s and many more products since, helping make it a brand name representing innovation, excellence and value. Today, HARTING is the world’s leading manufacturer of heavy-duty connectors and second largest manufacturer of industrial connectors. In its most recent fiscal year, the company, headquartered in Espelkamp, Germany posted revenues of 481 million euros, an increase of 16.5%, with the Americas boasting the fastest regional growth rate (18.9%) outside of the company’s home market. Globally, HARTING employs over 3,300 people, with production facilities in Europe, Asia and the United States. The US plant in Elgin, Illinois is of one of three HARTING locations that manufactures the HIS product line (HARTING Integrated Solutions/backplanes) and custom cable assemblies.

HARTING Canada – launched in 2011 as the HARTING Technology Group’s 39th subsidiary worldwide – with a first sales office in suburban Montreal reflected the natural evolution of the company’s Canadian business. HARTING Canada was created to bring the company closer to its Canadian customers – not just to sell them products which it was doing already, but to better understand their needs and help them maximize their competitiveness. The mandate of Canadian subsidiary includes informing the marketplace about how HARTING products can help them take advantage of fast-growing trends like modular machine design or 10GBASE-T Ethernet.

Its portfolio of robust, reliable connectivity solutions focuses on multiple levels from the machine to the device and into the communication infrastructure, serving almost all industrial markets. HARTING’s principal products include industrial connectors and devices, electronic components, 3D-MID multifunctional solutions and RFID transponders, backplane-based integrated solutions. The company has market application managers for the following sectors: automation and machinery, alternative energy, transportation, industrial devices, broadcast, stage automation, medical, embedded computer systems and telecommunications.

Invests heavily in R&D

Harting secures its market leadership by meeting, even anticipating, customers’ needs and expectations. Every year as a matter of policy, it reinvests 6 % of its revenue in research and development. That helps it respond at an early stage to changing industry needs and emerging trends with products like the award winning Han-Modular® and Han-Yellock® families. Customers, in turn, gain access to more of the benefits sooner from the latest advances in automation, networking and modular machine design. For example, leveraging its leadership in modular connectors, HARTING is helping further the proliferation of modular machine design as an alternative to hard-wiring. Modular design, aided by new connector designs and capabilities, is making complex machinery easier to maintain as well as more cost effective to upgrade or renew rather than replace, thereby extending its working life and the value of the initial investment.
