Denso's Tank Base and Chime Protection System is the ideal solution to seal gaps at the base of a tank where water and air normally penetrate. When properly applied, the system can protect tanks from corrosion and shield them from environmentally corrosive agents. The system is made up of a series of tapes and coatings that are easy to apply and offer reliable protection.

Four simple steps

The first step in the application of Denso's Tank Base and Chime Protection System is to apply Densyl Mastic. This is used to provide a smooth transition between the tank base and the concrete. When applying, simply mould the compound into a round configuration and apply around and in-between the circumference of the tank edge and concrete base to fill voids and reduce sharp edges.

Next, apply Denso Hi-Tack Tape around the concrete and steel tank base, starting a minimum of one inch onto the concrete base.

The third step is to apply Denso FB 30 Tape starting a minimum of one inch below the Denso Hi-Tack Tape and continue around the concrete and steel tank base. Make sure all seams and overlaps are pressed out and adhere to the tank.

Finally, mix Denso Weathershield 55 thoroughly to achieve an even colour, and apply it by brush as a topcoat to the Denso FB 30 Tape at approximately 18 to 20 mils.

A reliable system

Once the application is complete, the user has a reliable protection system that meets the American Petroleum Institute's standard for tank chime inspection (API-653), and protects tanks from corrosion and water ingress at their most vulnerable areas.
