Megger offers ground resistance test systems for design and soil surveys, as well as easy-to-use testers for field engineers.

Ground resistance testing requires the use of specially designed instruments capable of testing earth electrodes and measuring soil resistivity. As a leading manufacturer of measuring instruments, Megger offers systems for design and soil surveys, as well as easy-to-use testers for field engineers. From three- and four-terminal ground resistance testers, to a series of clamp-on ground resistance testers, Megger’s lineup can meet a wide range of application needs.

Four-terminal testers

Megger’s popular four-terminal ground testing instrument family includes four models. The DET4TD2 model is a dry-cell battery-powered basic four-terminal tester. The DET4TR2 model is also a basic tester, but is powered by rechargeable batteries. The DET4TC2 model, on the other hand, is a dry-cell battery-powered tester with selectable test frequencies, greater measurement sensitivity and attached rod technique, which allows testing without the need to disconnect the ground rod. It also has stakeless measurement capability, which allows the operator to use the instrument like a clamp-on tester. The DET4TCR2 is powered by rechargeable batteries and also has selectable test frequencies, greater measurement sensitivity, attached rod technique and stakeless measurement capability.

Three-terminal testers

Megger offers two models of three-terminal ground testers. The DET3TD model provides digital ground testing and bond test capabilities for basic requirements. It features two- and three-point testing, choice of digital or analog display, simple, one-button operation, as well as leads, stakes and a rugged carrying case. Model DET3TC offers the same advantages, but is also capable of testing on-site grounds without disconnecting the utility connection.

Clamp-on testers

The DET14C and DET24C are advanced clamp-on ground resistance testers that set new standards in terms of access, performance, features, simplicity of operation and safety, according to Megger. These units are designed with flat core ends to prevent dirt build-up, ensuring measurement integrity and improved reliability over products with interlocking teeth. They feature a built-in filter function for electrically noisy environments, time and date stamped stored test results, ultra long battery life, smooth mating surfaces on the clamp head, and an ergonomic trigger design.
