REDwire Is hard water damaging your boiler?

Miura’s Colormetry offers an automatic monitoring system for sample water collection, chemical reagent injection, mixing and evaluation.

Water hardness is considered to be the most common cause of boiler damage. The hardness level (ionic concentration) of water inflow to a boiler is usually checked manually by using chemical reagents known as indicators. Manual measurement using these conventional methods causes such problems as time consumption, personal error or deviation and lack of continuity in monitoring hardness leakage. Miura’s Colormetry solves these problems by offering an automatic monitoring system for sample water collection, chemical reagent injection, mixing and evaluation.

Colormetry features totally automatic control. It allows users to set the standard time period for monitoring (e.g., every day between 9:00 am and 5 pm), which enables early detection of hardness leakage. Colormetry can detect low levels of hardness leakage such as 1-2 mg/L by optically and electronically monitoring the colour of sample water. And the result of the evaluation for hardness level is shown on the digital screen, which indicates the efficiency of the water softener. A buzzer alarms when any hardness leakage is detected, and with the external alarm contact outlet, the alarm can be sent to a remote location. Users can also initiate and terminate the monitoring system from outside the boiler room using a remote control.

The device is equipped with a self check/ confirm function. In case the device faults, the main cause of the problem is shown in the same manner as the evaluation of hardness leakage. Another bonus: It memorizes date, time, duration of hardness leakage and time of reinstatement for up to three consecutive incidents. Memory function assists in analysis of the causes of hardness leakage.

With Colormetry, no routine calibration is necessary. In addition, the cartridge contains all the necessary chemical reagent and can be replaced with a one-touch, simple motion. In normal operation, the cartridge does not have to be replaced for approximately four months.
