The company sourced a portable roll handling cart by Schlumpf from Engineered Lifting Systems & Equipment.

Engineered Lifting Systems & Equipment (ELS) has a reputation for exceeding customer expectations. Its standard and custom overhead material lifting systems and equipment are designed to make difficult jobs seem easy by doing the heavy lifting, improving customer health and safety at the same time.

Roll handling is one of the company’s capabilities, with many successful implementations under its belt.

One customer — a company that specializes in packaging systems — required large rolls of print materials to be lifted and rotated from vertical to horizontal in order to be loaded and unloaded during production. Two workers were required to complete this task, and the physical demands often caused strain and, in some cases, injury.

The company sourced a portable roll handling cart by Schlumpf from Engineered Lifting Systems & Equipment. The battery-powered cart features an on-board charger, as well as three- and six-inch mechanically expanding mandrels to accommodate different ID core diameters. Workers use the integrated controls to articulate roll orientation from vertical to horizontal, on and off the workstation. The cart also has adjustable stabilizing legs to accommodate varying aisle and skid/pallet widths, as well as side shifting capabilities that allow it to align rolls to print machine shafts. The results are a more ergonomic workstation and a more efficient process.

ELS has 40-plus years of experience providing lifting solutions to a broad range of industries. Its products are engineered solutions manufactured by ELS and sourced from trusted suppliers.
