Spiral wounds, RTJs, metal jacketed and kammprofiles are some examples of high-quality metallic gaskets supplied by All Custom Gasket.

There are many options available for manufacturers who are looking for effective sealing solutions in a variety of environments and temperatures. Spiral wounds, RTJs, metal jacketed and kammprofiles are some examples of high-quality metallic gaskets supplied by All Custom Gasket.

Spiral wounds

Spiral wounds are semi-metallic gaskets capable of sealing in a wide range of applications. They are ideal for flanged joints, heat exchangers, boiler hand holes, manholes and other high-temperature, high-pressure applications. These gaskets can withstand the effects of pressure and temperature fluctuations, and provide resistance to virtually every known corrosive and toxic element. In addition, they can be constructed of many different combinations of materials. There are several styles available:

  • Style CG is a general purpose gasket suitable for use with flat face and raised face flanges. It utilizes an external ring that centres the gasket on the flange face. This feature provides additional radial strength to prevent gasket blowout, and allows the gasket to act as a compression stop.
  • Style CGI is similar to the CG; however, it is manufactured with an internal ring to act as a compression stop, which protects the gasket windings from heat and corrosion.
  • The Style R gasket is a sealing element only, which means that controlled compression must be in the flange. Inner and outer diameters are reinforced with multiple layers of metal — without fillers — to give greater stability and sealing.

Ring Type Joints (RTJ)

RTJs are available in two types — an oval cross section and an octagonal cross section. The octagonal cross section has a higher sealing efficiency than the oval. These joints are popular in valves and pipework assemblies, oil field drilling equipment and other high-temperature applications.

Metal Jacketed Gaskets

Most commonly used in boiler and heat exchanger applications, these gaskets are manufactured with a compressible insert within a metallic jacket, which allows the metal to transform to suit the flange, resulting in an effective seal. Styles include single and double jacket or solid metal.

Kammprofiles offer the compressibility of a sheet gasket and the bolt tightness of a spiral wound gasket, along with the handling ease of a solid metal gasket. For a tight seal, these kammprofiles are an economical alternative for jacketed heat exchanger gaskets.
