Bergen Cable has a broad range of in-house capabilities that ensure high quality.

To provide cable and wire rope assemblies that customers can rely on, Bergen Cable uses a broad range of specialized machinery and processes. From rotary swaging and hydraulic crimping to pull testing, the company’s manufacturing processes provide precise, high-quality results.

Rotary swaging

This cold-forming process uses a rotary hammer method to attach end fittings to cable and wire rope. As the workpiece is fed into the machine, a die rotates around it. This method offers tight tolerances, fine finishes and higher breaking strengths for cylindrical fittings.

Hydraulic and pneumatic crimping

Bergen Cable uses hydraulic and pneumatic presses that enable effective and efficient crimping for fittings such as eyelets, button stops, stop sleeves, plain balls, oval sleeves and threaded studs. The company uses presses with capacities up to 175 tons.

Pull testing

No matter what type of testing customers require, Bergen Cable can meet the need with its numerous United testers and digital proof loaders. That includes destructive and proof loading with pull testing up to 22,500 pounds. These tests can be performed on a single piece, specified lot, or all of the products Bergen Cable supplies.

Fused cut cable

Bergen Cable uses numerous freestanding and tabletop Ewald flash cutters. These machines can automatically cut cable to specific lengths quickly and efficiently. This method of electrically cutting cable also offers a clean cut with fused ends that won’t unravel.

Precision machining

The company has a machining division that is equipped with CNC milling machines, CNC turning centres, CNC screw machines, and much more. Bergen Cable’s in-house machining capabilities enable it to provide highly customized end fittings while ensuring quality control and short lead times.

Coated cable stripping

Before fittings can be attached to coated cable, the coating must be removed from the area where the fitting will be crimped. To accomplish this, Bergen Cable utilizes several custom stripping machines that can strip coat cables and wire rope up to ⅜-inches in diameter.
