Spectrex fire and gas detector products are available from Alpha Controls.

A vast number of industries rely on fire detection products and open path gas detectors to keep their employees, capital investments and environment safe. Alpha Controls, a leading supplier of measurement, sensing and controlling instruments, offers products from Spectrex, a company dedicated to providing effective protection against fires and explosions.

About Spectrex

For more than 30 years, Spectrex has been the leader in fire and gas detector designs. The company was the first to launch major innovations within its industry, and its solutions have become trade standards. Spectrex continues to offer more than 40 different FD designs to meet application challenges from offshore to mall floors, from Alaska to Malaysia. Some of the company’s leading instruments are listed below.

40/40 Series Flame Detectors

The 40/40 Series detectors offer the very latest features and approvals for today's industries. They possess enhanced reliability and durability with a massive five-year warranty. All are fitted with a heated window to withstand the harshest of conditions and with HART output to offer quality information during installation or maintenance. Most have an enhanced detection distance and a larger field of view than before. All are hazardous area approved (FM/ATEX/IECEx/CSA and more) for location in Zone I areas and third-party performance approved (EN54-10, FM, DNV). The 40/40 range includes IR3, combined UV/IR, single UV types, single IR type, as well as a new Multi IR Detector that provides combined hydrocarbon and hydrogen flame detection.

SafEye 900

The new SafEye Quasar 900 is an open path detection system that provides continuous monitoring for combustible hydrocarbon gases. It employs “spectral fingerprint” analysis of the atmosphere using the Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (DOAS) technique. The Quasar 900 consists of a Xenon Flash infrared transmitter and infrared receiver, separated over a line of sight from 23 feet (seven meters) up to 660 feet (200 metres) in extremely harsh environments where dust, fog, rain, snow or vibration can cause a high reduction of signal.
