R&S is committed to giving our customers the best possible quality of product and service, at a competetive price.

Future Plans

R&S has fabricated the largest non-captive balancing machine in the golden horseshoe and will have it completed by late January 2000. It will have a capacity of 12' in diameter and a load capacity of 20,000lbs. We have expanded our CNC equipment to provide our existing customers with even faster deliveries without sacrificing quality. The capacity of the CNC lathe is 23" in diameter by 30" in length.

R&S in the News

R&S is actively involved in the community. We sponsor programs in local schools to give young people the exposure and experience they need, as well as provide an annual award for the most promising individual. We feel that today's students are the future and R&S has and will always provide a forum for training and growth.

Balancing

R&S is a full service dynamic balancing shop that has the ability to turn around large intricate balancing jobs with very short lead times to the customers exacting specifications.

We can, at present, handle from 0.25lbs to 7000lbs and have balanced paper mill rollers with lengths of 35'. We have fabricated a larger balancing stand that can handle 20,000lbs and swing 120", which is ideal for the balancing of large fans, crushers, and electric motors.

All of our balancing leaves the plant with its own computer generated report. This ensures accuracy of the final product as well as giving the customer an as received report to show what the condition of the rotor was before we made any corrections.

R&S feels that a properly balanced part will lengthen the bearing life of all rotors. This will reduce costly downtime due to excessive vibration as well as bearing failure.

We have a long list of satisfied customers, ranging from small motor rewind shops to GE and Ontario Power as well as almost all of the machine shops in the Golden Horseshoe.

In our eyes, all customers are of equal priority.

R&S can keep our customers costs lower by offering the machining, fabricating, and balancing under one roof. This in turn keeps a tighter control on all aspects of that job.

Spray Welding

R&S utilizes a UTP thermal spray system, where we can build up various materials to our customers individual needs.

This process allows us to repair parts that have been previously finished without distortion due to excess heat.

Where a unique material needs to take the place of the original for either corrosion resistance or wear applications, we will overlay with bronze, copper, aluminum, ceramic, plastics, and tungsten carbide for some custom applications of special rollers or seal areas.

R&S can weld and then finish the components in our machine shop to give our clients the full service treatment that they require.

Machining

R&S services the steel mill and pulp and paper industries, as well as power generation plants in the manufacture and repair of various precision machined parts.

We offer turning capabilities on our vertical lathe of 54" in diameter, and 27" in diameter by 10' in length on our horizontal lathes. Our CNC capabilities are, at present, 1 horizontal machining center that utilizes a 22" pallet, as well as 1 chucking lathe that can turn 23" diameter. Both machines are capable of holding exacting sizes and are always kept below capacity so that we may offer quick service to either, our existing customers, or new clients that require our many services.    

We manufacture a number of pump components for various OEM companies where quality and confidentiality go hand in hand. Smart Turner Pumps is one of our customers who has the confidence of our manufacturing capabilities, as well as our commitment to there ongoing customer needs. Our pump experience allows us to work with various aspects of the fluid transmission business with confidence.

R&S is also a proud manufacturer of a line of variable speed drive components for one of our valued customers, who in turn assembles, tests, and ships worldwide. We manufacture, balance and trial assemble components for this, as well as other customers that have any special needs.

R&S offers, to all of our many customers, a 24 hour service with pickup and delivery as an option for speedier service.

The facilities of R&S work to the ISO 9001-2000 quality system, and have been registered since June 2001 wih SGS international.

Turbines

R&S has the ability to re-manufacture from sample, or from our company drawings, a number of different steam turbine shaft/disc combinations.

This field of manufacturing is very precise, and we feel that our company can provide the best service without sacrificing any quality.

We have, in the past, turned a complete shaft replacement overhaul around in less than 48 hours complete with metallizing and balancing. This incredibly fast service is made possible by R&S's commitment to total customer satisfaction. All seal and attached components are also readily manufactured to OEM specs or better.

R&S specializes in the manufacturing of complex split labyrinth seals for compressor rotors with exacting precision. From a sample part that has been destroyed, we can re - manufacture to original specs. or better. All complete with material and dimensional reports.
